R-Express is the final public workshop of the CIRCULAR IN PLAY Project funded by the first EELISA Call for Joint Inter-Institutional Activities in Communities. The project aims to foster awareness on the circular economy through a series of creative game-based activities that promote collaborative learning and research for the youth across Europe. It is an international collaboration of four universities under the EELISA European University Alliance: İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi (ITU) from Turkey, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) from Spain, Universitatea Politehnica din Bucureşti (UPB) from Romania, and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna Pisa (SSSA) from Italy. In order to support global initiatives around the circular economy, R-Express is organized as part of the Global Recycling Day 2023 and integrated with the ATHENS Programme course offered by UPM.
The aim of this workshop is to engage students in the circular economy, analyzing ways of action by answering key questions: Why? What? How? When? Participants will discuss and design strategies in a group setting over different materials and scenarios concerning the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) concept, which will help them become familiar with the way of working in science and technology and its relationship with the challenges of society.
The activity consists of short informative videos and presentations of the circular economy, an interactive game session, and the latest news and announcements of the EELISA Alliance and the Circular EELISA Community. The day will end with the announcement of participant recognitions and the upcoming community activities.
