The main objective of this workshop is to gain insight into the causes and consequences of Turkey and Syria 2023 earthquake to be learned and taught in our universities. The strategy involves applying both an interdisciplinary approach and Artificial Intelligence (AI) features (SDG 17). The project is co headed by ITU and UPM teams. This challenge encompasses a variety of tasks:
- Collecting relevant information on DAMAGE and FAILURE PATTERNS.
- Improving knowledge about damages on buildings and infrastructure; and
- Analyzing the technical, societal, and economic features derived from this earthquake.
With the aim of elaborating a set of recommendations on seismic provisions and retrofit measures for the future This event also seeks to engage young researchers, including MSc and PhD students, to bring them
closer to the development of social and sustainable competences and addressing global challenges.

Together we can drive research, innovation, and collaboration towards more sustainable construction practices.
