Ecuador
In Ecuador, experiences of the various members of the LAC Platform are articulated around the management of water resources and basic sanitation (“Water – Life Program”), as well as various productive initiatives, in alliance with local partners (universities, NGOs and foundations).
In this country, a permanent relationship is maintained with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation – AECID, with whom it contributes – through technical cooperation activities – to the development of higher training initiatives, such as the San Lorenzo Workshop School and the Master’s degree in “Sustainable Construction”, led by universities in the country and which also have the active participation of companies. Both initiatives aim at the development of capacities of young people so that their insertion and dynamization of the local economy, from the construction sector, taking into account the management and use of forest resources in a sustainable way.
Cartomundo
El proyecto busca entender y analizar el impacto real que tiene la salubridad de una comunidad con las enfermedades de sus habitantes. A partir de distintas variables de salubridad y las bases de datos de atenciones médicas tomadas en en las comunidades que viven a orillas del río Cayapas (Ecuador) por el Ministerio de Salud Pública de Ecuador y una ONGD, se ha analizado las relaciones entre ellos, viendo qué hábitos y medios tienen un mayor impacto en la salud y cómo poder predecir cuánta población enferma puede haber en una comunidad a partir de su nivel de salubridad. Se ha establecido un protocolo de actuación para diagnóstico en agua y saneamiento, que a través de cartografía colaborativa permite mapear las condiciones de salubridad de un territorio.
