Training sessions are starting at the Puerta de la Sierra de Venturada coworking space —

And we couldn’t miss this moment.

Our coordinator Sergio has gone along to support the first participants on the course at the Venturada Coworking Space. One of the project leaders there, Cristina, tells us how important this course is in enabling anyone who needs it to learn how to use a computer from scratch.

We’ve posted the Venturada facilitator’s testimonial on our Instagram profile, and we invite you to follow the project on social media too, so you don’t miss out…

Agenda: #DigitalBridges. Towards inclusion and equality for the whole of society

In the digital age, the ability to use technology effectively has become essential for full participation in society.

Digital literacy not only opens the door to educational and employment opportunities, but is also key to accessing basic services and exercising one’s rights as a citizen. For the most vulnerable groups, who are often left behind by technological progress, digital literacy is a powerful tool for overcoming barriers and reducing inequalities.

On 16 July,  Espacio Fundación Telefónica will host a live programme focusing precisely on this crucial issue, featuring the director of #TEDECO and principal investigator of #RETOMadrID, Susana Hernández Muñoz, alongside Óscar Espíritusanto, a journalist, researcher and university lecturer, founder of periodismociudadano.com and Director of the Department of Educational Innovation and Research at Cibervoluntarios, and Carlos Palacios, Global Head of Social Action and Volunteering at the Fundación Telefónica.

Book your free ticket on the Espacio Fundación Telefónica website

Spread the word about the importance of #PuentesDigitales, one of the key objectives of this project run by the Comunidad de Madrid using technology from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, so make a note of this event in your diary. If you’d like more information on how your school or local council can take part in #RETOMadrID, you can register here.

Training sessions kick off at the Casa de la Cultura in El Espartal

In this district of El Vellón, training sessions for its residents have already begun with the implementation of a Digital Inclusion Point in its Casa de la Cultura. We were able to attend the meeting with the professionals who are accompanying and guiding them through this course so they can follow it individually and at their own pace, and we spoke with some of the participants, such as Juani. After having a computer at home for decades, she will now be able to train to use it, from scratch, step by step, using the RETOMadrID course.

#DigitalBridges: Towards inclusion and equity for the whole of society

This week at Espacio Fundación Telefónica, Susana Muñoz, director of #TEDECO and lead researcher for #RETOMadrID, participated as a speaker in the #DigitalBridges talk. We were fortunate to enjoy an enriching and reflective space with an audience deeply committed to the cause.

Joining Susana in the talk were Oscar Espíritusanto—journalist, researcher, and university professor, founder of periodismociudadano.com and Director of the Department of Educational Innovation and Research at Cibervoluntarios—and Silvia Movellán, Head of Social Action and Volunteering at Fundación Telefónica.

During the conversation, moderated by Mónica de la Fuente, topics such as current challenges to mitigate the #digitaldivide and the need to bring all of society together to make accessibility a priority when creating content and applications were discussed, alongside a review of each speaker’s projects.

In addition to the diverse and personalized actions of Cibervoluntarios and the training programs and corporate volunteering of Fundación Telefónica, Susana highlighted the technological innovation applied in the #RETOMadrID courses and its focus on a single essential goal: that every participant learns at their own pace from scratch, with their tablet as the only requirement.

From yesterday’s program—which is already available on their YouTube channel to watch again or recommend to your circle—we are left above all with the question asked by an attendee at the end: How can we ensure that all these useful, free resources, available to the entire population, actually reach those who need them?

Training sessions kick off at the Todoteca in Robregordo

The #RETOMadrID Digital Inclusion Point is now installed and ready to go at the Robregordo Todoteca. This Community of Madrid project, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Madrid, is providing municipalities across the Community of Madrid with the necessary technology and innovation for those at risk of social exclusion due to a lack of basic digital skills.

Thanks to Erika, from the Robregordo Town Hall staff, for her dedication to her community, and thanks to everyone who believes there are no barriers to ensuring no one in our society is left behind.

Learning FROM SCRATCH, at your own pace and in about eight hours in total, is possible, free, and accessible right now. If you want this project for your town, community, or care center, register here and we will get in touch with you.

RETOMadrID gets underway at the Town Hall of Robledillo de la Jara

RETOMadrID continues to grow in the Community of Madrid, and recently, training sessions have also begun in Robledillo de la Jara, in the north of the region, to learn how to use a computer completely free of charge and from scratch.

Information, registration, and the start of the course are now available at its Town Hall.

The Digital Inclusion Point is already underway, as in many other municipalities in Madrid, as part of this Community of Madrid project funded by the Next Generation Funds and the Recovery Plan of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

If you want more information about this project and would like us to install PIDs in your municipality/center, register here and we will get in touch with you.

RETOMadrID at the Valdemanco Library

RETOMadrID at the Valdemanco Library

In the #RETOMadrID project, we rely on the help and dedication of the people working at the centers where the Digital Inclusion Points are set up.

At the @aytovaldemanco Library, you can find Conchi, who, in addition to bringing her library to life and supporting the Town Hall’s activities, can provide all the information so that anyone who needs it can learn how to use a computer from scratch. Local residents are already training there, and little by little, they are discovering what they are capable of. If you want us to bring #RETOMadrID to your municipality/center, let us know in the comments and we will give you all the information so this free @comunidadmadrid project, funded by the EU with #NextGeneration Funds, can reach your town.

The Digital Inclusion Point is now active at the Navacerrada Library, ready for anyone interested in training in digital skills from SCRATCH, allowing them to learn how to use a computer at their own pace in approximately eight hours.

If you want us to install this @comunidadmadrid project, funded by the European Union’s #NextGeneration, register your center here and we will get in touch with you to provide all the information.

The Library of Velilla de San Antonio will host #RETOMadrID

August is here, but #RETOMadrID continues to advance through the municipalities of @comunidadmadrid, such as Velilla de San Antonio and its Municipal Library, so that its users can learn digital skills from scratch. If you are in this municipality and would like more information about the project, you can ask at this center and at its town hall.

If you are interested in having a Digital Inclusion Point installed in your center/municipality, you can sign up using this form and someone from the coordination team will visit you and provide all the information, just like our colleague Sergio did here, alongside Alejandro Guillen Pascual, Councilor for Local Development, Employment and Commerce; Yolanda Rollon Ferigal, Councilor for Culture and Social Services; and the librarian, José Andrés Cercadillo Isla.

The Municipal Library of Alpedrete, reducing the digital divide with RETOMadrID
