¿What is RETOMadrID?

RETOMadrID stands for “Territorial Rebalance in Madrid with Digital Inclusion”. It is a collaborative initiative between the Community of Madrid and the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The project is part of Component 19: “National Plan for Digital Skills”, Investment 1: “Cross-cutting Digital Skills”, within Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

With the aim of promoting inclusive digital transition in rural areas in the Community of Madrid, the initiative offers residents the opportunity to receive basic digital training from scratch and learn the fundamentals of using a computer.

Our purpose

In today’s world having access to the Internet is crucial. For example, it is essential for tasks such as booking a doctor’s appointment, checking your bank account, finding an emergency pharmacy, communicating with your grandchildren, buying tickets for a show or taking an online course, among other things.

This is a big challenge for all towns and villages, and in particular for the Community of Madrid, to provide digital skills to all its residents.

We want you to be a TRANSFORMATIVE TOWN, a DIGITAL example for your neighbors and community. Are you ready to join us in RETOMadrID?

Who is this initiative for?

We target adults over 18 living in rural areas of Madrid, including women in vulnerable situations, unemployed individuals, older adults, ethnic and cultural minorities, and citizens without computer skills who are affected by social digital exclusion.

Who can participate in the training?

The initiative aims to reach all municipalities in the Community of Madrid. In each one, we engage with organizations, senior centers, educational institutions, rehabilitation centers, and libraries, among other spaces that bring together the groups we work with.

At these centers, a Digital Inclusion Point can be set up, allowing anyone who needs it to receive training in basic computer skills from scratch and at their own pace.
