ECYSAP EYE: Intelligence and Dominance in Cyberspace for European Defence

ECYSAP-EYE is a European research and innovation initiative dedicated to strengthening the resilience, situational awareness, and operational decision-making capabilities of defence organisations in the cyber domain. The project builds upon the foundations of the first iteration, ECYSAP (European Cyber Situational Awareness Platform), which was created to provide EU Member States with a unified, interoperable platform for cyber situational awareness.

Evolving from the initial ECYSAP platform, ECYSAP-EYE represents the next evolutionary step. While ECYSAP delivered the first integrated environment for monitoring cyber events, generating a coherent CSA picture, and supporting military operators, ECYSAP-EYE enhances this framework by incorporating advanced artificial intelligence, improved data-fusion mechanisms, adaptive automation, and expanded interoperability across defence assets and multinational partners.

By significantly broadening the scope, intelligence, and automation level of its predecessor, ECYSAP-EYE transforms the platform from a primarily reactive awareness tool into an intelligent, proactive, and predictive cyber-defence ecosystem. It introduces a range of advanced capabilities, including:

• Advanced AI and machine-learning engines for real-time threat prediction and behavioural analysis.
• Improved multi-layer data fusion enabling cross-domain visibility.
• Enhanced automation for detection, analysis, and response workflows.
• Greater interoperability with defence systems, legacy infrastructures, and multinational partners.
• Stronger decision-support capabilities based on explainable AI and adaptive dashboards.

This evolutionary step transforms the platform from a primarily reactive awareness tool into an intelligent, proactive, and predictive cyber-defence ecosystem.

The project pursues strategic objectives that support European defence readiness and autonomy:

1. Provide real-time, high-fidelity cyber situational awareness across complex, heterogeneous defence environments.
2. Enable early detection and prediction of cyber threats through state-of-the-art AI analytics.
3. Support commanders and analysts with decision-support mechanisms that improve response accuracy and reduce cognitive load.
4. Automate critical components of detection, correlation, and response to reduce reaction time.
5. Establish a scalable and interoperable architecture that can integrate with EU cyber-defence frameworks and multinational operations.
6. Promote European technological sovereignty by developing key cyber-defence capabilities within Europe.

The goal of ECYSAP-EYE is to deliver a next-generation, AI-enhanced cyber-defence platform that empowers European defence forces with unmatched situational awareness, predictive insight, and operational decision support. The project aims to ensure that Europe can anticipate, defend against, and counter emerging cyber threats with speed, intelligence, and autonomy.
