RETOMadrID’s innovation at #ICCIDA24, India

Susana M. Hernández, director of the #TEDECO group and principal investigator of #RETOMadrID, is currently at the University of Madrid, where she is speaking at the International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Data Analytics #ICCIDA24 in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. This digital literacy project from the Community of Madrid has made its way there thanks to the innovation and team at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

It is a source of pride to cross borders with Susana and continue to reach further afield to provide training in basic digital skills to the entire population.

RETOMadrID is now available at the Somosierra Library

At the Somosierra Cultural Centre, Raúl is ready to teach anyone interested in learning the basics of using a computer and the internet from scratch. In the library, you’ll find the Digital Inclusion Point, where you can learn individually, easily and at your own pace.

In about eight hours, the course will be ready and anyone who has completed it will receive their certificate 🤓
Somosierra has added it to its catalogue of courses available to residents, and if you’d like #RETOMadrID to come to your town or school too, you can sign up on our website and we’ll call you to tell you more about this project from @comunidadmadrid

Training sessions are starting at the Puerta de la Sierra de Venturada coworking space —

And we couldn’t miss this moment.

Our coordinator Sergio has gone along to support the first participants on the course at the Venturada Coworking Space. One of the project leaders there, Cristina, tells us how important this course is in enabling anyone who needs it to learn how to use a computer from scratch.

We’ve posted the Venturada facilitator’s testimonial on our Instagram profile, and we invite you to follow the project on social media too, so you don’t miss out…

Agenda: #DigitalBridges. Towards inclusion and equality for the whole of society

In the digital age, the ability to use technology effectively has become essential for full participation in society.

Digital literacy not only opens the door to educational and employment opportunities, but is also key to accessing basic services and exercising one’s rights as a citizen. For the most vulnerable groups, who are often left behind by technological progress, digital literacy is a powerful tool for overcoming barriers and reducing inequalities.

On 16 July,  Espacio Fundación Telefónica will host a live programme focusing precisely on this crucial issue, featuring the director of #TEDECO and principal investigator of #RETOMadrID, Susana Hernández Muñoz, alongside Óscar Espíritusanto, a journalist, researcher and university lecturer, founder of periodismociudadano.com and Director of the Department of Educational Innovation and Research at Cibervoluntarios, and Carlos Palacios, Global Head of Social Action and Volunteering at the Fundación Telefónica.

Book your free ticket on the Espacio Fundación Telefónica website

Spread the word about the importance of #PuentesDigitales, one of the key objectives of this project run by the Comunidad de Madrid using technology from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, so make a note of this event in your diary. If you’d like more information on how your school or local council can take part in #RETOMadrID, you can register here.
