Collaboration Project with Iberdrola, open innovation

The Fundación Iberdrola launches annually the national program of Aids to Investigation, to boost technological innovation projects in the energy, sustainability, and environment sectors. In 2020, the LiP presented its Smart BioH2 project apropos the use of biogas, using innovative technologies that enhance the biogas combustion efficiency, so it can be used in conventional systems. To analyze the feasibility of the use of this optimized and renewable fuel, as well as to carry out a first study of its implementation, several simulation and experimentation studies were outlined. In addition, a Life Cycle analysis was planned. Smart BioH2 was chosen out of numerous projects submitted by universities from all over Spain, and it began in September 2020. Simulation and experimentation activities have already been carried out, with encouraging results that will be verified by the Life Cycle analysis taking place in the first term of 2021.
