MOOC reflection

The MOOC course “Introduction to Personal Branding” has made me understand why it is important to create a personal branding for myself. Both to create my foundation in order to know myself and what I want in life but also to manage expectations from other people around me such as colleagues, collaborators and managers.

The course gave hands-on tips on how to manage the personal branding and I found the personality test very informative and eye-opening. This made me really understand what I am looking for in a company and what my goals in my personal life are. Also the 3 words and the mission statement helped me with this.

The tips regarding a professional photo also made me aware of how important it is to show who you are in other ways as well. For example the use of linkedIn to expand my network and the importance of having a good photo that represents me and makes me recognizable.

Some parts of the course were not really relevant to me such as the leadership approach to personal branding as well as the in-depth explanation of Twitter/X. However, some parts were still applicable in other contexts, for example in other platforms or when collaborating with other people.

The course also made me realize the importance of continuous learning and how a MOOC course can expand my knowledge outside my field of study in the classroom. Therefore I added Coursera as a tool in my personal learning environment since I can see the great benefits of taking more courses like this.

I attach here the course certificate that shows that I have completed the course!

About WILMA JONSSON

Hello! My name is Wilma Jonsson and I am currently studying Environmental Engineering at Lund University. At the moment I am doing my Erasmus exchange in Madrid at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.

My Personal Learning Environment

My current learning environment looks like the following.  The tools I would recommend trying out are overleaf for writing more complex documents with many equations and figures and office lens for scanning documents. The rest I believe to be well-known for most people. The comments I received from teachers and classmates were regarding the tools that I used and some tips on how to improve the way I am currently working.

My improved learning environment has been extended with some more tools and digital platforms that I would like to incorporate more into my personal learning environment. The additions made are LinkedIn to expand my network and introduce me to the professional environment, Canva for more visual contents and presentations, Mendeley as a reference management tool that will aid me during my writing process. There is also an inclusion of ted talks and coursera for expanding my knowledge outside of the classroom and the school environment by using learning tools such as mooc and inspirational/educational speeches.

After the addition of tools I feel that it will help my learning and improve my knowledge both within my field but also aid me to gain other important skills that can make me stand out amongst other people. The introduction of LinkedIn will be the biggest improvement to help me become part of the professional work environment and my professional growth and development.

Wilma Jonsson

Hello! My name is Wilma Jonsson and I am 24 years old. I am from Sweden and I am currently studying Environmental Engineering at Lund University. I am currently in my fourth year and this autumn and winter I am in Madrid doing my Erasmus exchange at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. My courses are part of a master program called Circular Economy and the focus is mainly on recycling, sustainability in construction and demolition, industries and energy but also on valuable skills such as personal development and sustainable entrepreneurship.

So far I am really happy with my decision to go abroad on an exchange since I love exploring new cities and cultures. The opportunity to go to Spain has also allowed me to further improve my Spanish and hopefully I will feel more confident in Spanish after my time here.

My decision to go into a field of sustainability comes from my love for nature, animals and the environment. I would hope to be able to have a career at a company that has a positive impact on the environment and that is one of the reasons why I chose Environmental Engineering. In the future I hope to work with sustainable cities in some way. Connect with me on LinkedIn if you want to keep in touch!
