MOOC

MOOC 1 ( Introduction to personal branding)

This course focuses on understanding the primary purpose, benefits, and responsibilities of branding, and begins defining my values, gifts, and goals. I understood key elements including authenticity, my mission statement, and why I should incorporate my photo into my brand. Also, I have identified three platforms that best fit my brand( Linkedin, Twitter, and UPM blog). I am familiar with the pros and cons of creating a maintenance plan for my brand. Thanks to the course, I can now use digital privacy tools to protect my brand and reputation effectively. I highly recommend it.

MOOC 2 (Introduction to a circular economy)

This was another eye-opening course for me. I was introduced further to the concept of circular economy, and how it affects most aspects of major industries. I understood better how it could help a business’s growth. Another interesting fact I learned was how clean energy is important for good disruption. Lastly, this MOOC course made me appreciate this master’s course.

Thank you UPM, TU Delft and edx.

Personal Learning Environment( PLE)

Fig 1 and 2 above show both my initial and improved personal learning environment.

My initial personal learning shows the tools I use often for learning and how I classify them. The other image below shows my improved learning environments, I got familiar with several new tools from my colleague’s presentations and I am proud they could be part of my learning environments. Lastly, I now have 6 personal classifications which started from 01 to 06 as follows.

Personal Reflection on the Professional future.

With the popular existence and improvement of Artificial Intelligence(AI), I must confess, a lot of professions are at risk of extinction. This is no news because this started in the earlier days when some 20th-century professions such as typesetters, switchboard operators, VCR repairmen, etc are outdated because of the existence of individual computers, laptops, and printers.
I think any profession that can be automated will eventually be put to extinction. As part of a sustainable world enthusiast, it is very important to consider the well-being of society before any change is implemented. I understand for a balanced society, future professional humans should be left to do jobs that make them human. In particular, soft skills jobs that need our 100% emotional intelligence and balance as humans.
My Personal professional reflection on the future is to be a product steward to ensure that AI respects human needs from every perspective at specific times, by not being so robotic and biased toward human legal agreements based on the data it’s been fed.
I believe we need this realization to strike a balance in the future profession.
I am glad I chose the AMIR Master, especially the circular economy pathway, this Master is training us both personally and professionally to stay competitive for future professions in all aspects.

I think the smart move to make for a future profession is simply to remain relevant.

Damilare L. Akande

Hi, my name is Damilare Lateefat Akande from Nigeria. I am in the Advance Material Innovative Recycling program because I am passionate about energy and environmental sustainability.  I believe that everything we need is on this earth, just like the law of conservation of energy, energy is either created or destroyed, it can rather be transformed. Therefore everything we need is on this planet, we just need to figure them out.

This was my motivation in joining the Innovative recycling program after my undergraduate degree in chemistry to learn how to reprocess what we refer to as waste in a linear economy system version and get the concept of how to make the world a more sustainable place for future generations. The best gift we can leave behind.

So far so good, this master’s has trained me beyond my horizon, I experienced various Material chemistry training, life cycle assessment, and eco-design, waste material transformation, and  I got skilled with many characterization tools which are the basis for transforming into a renewable energy future and a circular product world. I am a circular economy enthusiast and I look forward to gaining more expertise in an innovative industry with an impact as a sustainability product steward.

I believe a zero-carbon future is possible, do you?
