DESIRE6G
The RSTI group is participating in the European project DESIRE6G (HORIZON-JU-SNS-2022-STREAM-B-01-01 – System Architecture) led by the University of Amsterdam, as an Associated Partner of Telefónica, with the aim of contributing to the development of an Agnostic Programmable Data Plane Controller for Deterministic Networks that promotes energy efficiency across the entire 5G and 6G value chain, which will contribute to achieving the European Green Deal.
DESIRE6G will design and develop a novel zero-touch control, management, and orchestration platform with native AI integration to support the requirements of eXtreme URLLC applications. DESIRE6G will re-architect mobile networks through: a) its intent-based control and end-to-end orchestration, which targets achieving near real-time autonomic networking; and b) a cloud-native unified programmable data plane layer supporting multi-tenancy. This will be supported by a generic hardware abstraction layer designed for heterogeneous systems.
RSTI-UPM will contribute to DESIRE6G in the design and development of an Agnostic Programmable Data Plane Controller for the deterministic transport network, supporting Tofino switches and other programmable devices in the data plane, such as Netronome SmartNICs, while extending ETSI’s open-source TeraFlow SDN Controller.
