SMART MinEnergy: LiP visited abandoned coal mines

March 22nd and 23rd 2021. The research team formed by the Santa Bárbara, Túneles y Geomecánica Foundation and UPM itself explored the options for implementing CAES technologies in abandoned coal mines. As an evolutionary process of the SMART MinEnergy project, the scaling of the prototype is considered and the real operating conditions in environments with pre-industrial dimensions are evaluated.

A unique experience, being able to enter abandoned mining spaces, where once an energy resource such as coal was exploited. It is exciting to consider these spaces as an option, to store renewable energy.

Take part on the survey on circular economy and mineral resources.

This survey is a part of a new CIRCEXTIN project (Strategic partnership for fostering circular economy approach in extractive industry related study programmes).

The objective of the project is to create a strategic partnerships of Universities and companies developing a comprehensive training platform that will help to modify existing study programmes related to extractive industry with up-to-date, practical and applicable knowledge of proper waste management in extractive industry incorporating circular economy approach. This platform will also gather information on study programmes from the top European universities that offer programmes related to various extractive industries.

The survey aims to obtain information from a large sample of European countries.

Participating in this survey will make significant support to your colleague and/or partner from TUDELFT, TalTech, Silesian University of Technology, and Montan University of Leoben universities, and JSWI and COBANT companies.
