The “Your Solar Thesis in 3 Minutes” competition was held on April 8th in the Aula Magna of the ETSI de Telecomunicación at UPM’s Moncloa Campus. The event was a great success, featuring 17 students from the PhD Program in Photovoltaic Solar Energy who presented their thesis projects through engaging and accessible talks.
After a close vote, Ms. Elvira Cánovas was announced as the winner for her presentation on her ongoing work with solar cells based on 2D materials.
We are confident that this experience will help students deliver an outstanding performance in the upcoming general UPM contest “Tu tesis en 3 minutos”.
The Your Solar Thesis in 3 Minutes competition challenges PhD students from the Solar Energy Institute at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid to communicate their research in a limited time and in language that is understandable to a general audience.
Inspired by the original Three Minute Thesis initiative launched at the University of Queensland (Australia), the goal is to make the work of PhD researchers more visible to society while fostering a culture of science communication. The competition rewards the ability to convey complex research effectively to non-specialist audiences.
It also aims to cultivate among researchers a deeper appreciation for the role of science outreach in driving social progress across all areas of knowledge.
