On October 18, on the occasion of the World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS) 2023 European Event, the CIRCULAR EELISA Community signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the China-Europe Association for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, ACEIE, and the World Young Scientist Summit, WYSS.

The meeting took place in Brussels, and the signing of the Memorandum was attended by Dr. Zhiwei Song, Chairman of ACEIE; Ms. Zhang Heng, Executive Director of the WYSS Executive Committee Office, and Professor Justo García Navarro, Coordinator of the CIRCULAR Community, from the EELISA Alliance of Universities.

The WYSS 2023 European Event focused on “Innovation and Cooperation for the UN SDG Global Progress”. The event hosted four parallel sessions dedicated to key topics “University in Innovation Ecosystem”, “Youth Innovation Showcase”, “Women at the Forefront of Innovation”, and “Emerging Science and Technology”. And one of the main results of the event, in line with the aim of connecting networks, was the signing of the aforementioned MOU.

The China-Europe Association for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, ACEIE, was established in 2017 with the support of the Pan-European Federation of Chinese Professional Associations, which consists of 63 professional associations and more than 20,000 high-level professional members. The institutions of the federation are located in economically developed countries of Europe.

ACEIE is a facilitator for meeting talents for innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe. Relying on the advantages of the knowledge of European professionals, driven by innovation, based on quality and efficiency of service, ACEIE discovers and promotes projects and talents, promoting Chinese-European cooperation. Based on the European Science and Technology Park and the Pan-European Association of Chinese Professionals, it brings together numerous partners from Europe and China, establishing a solid and efficient cooperation platform. ACEIE takes innovation as the guide, business internationalization needs as the driving force, professional services as the means, and cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises as the model. It maximizes the vitality and expertise of European professionals to establish a collaborative platform “China-Europe” for innovation resources.

On the other hand, the World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS) is jointly sponsored by China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province, with a vision of promoting a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind. Themed by “Converging the World’s Talents, Creating a Better Future”, WYSS is committed to building an open exchange platform, striving to enable more young scientists to share ideas and learn from each other, so as to display their ambitions and pursue their dreams.

Launched in 2019, over recent years the Summit has significantly strengthened its connections with a number of renowned international science and technology organizations. By paying continuous attention to the UN sustainable development plan, giving full play to the role of the science and technology community, WYSS has established exchanges and contacts with more than 100 countries, international science and technology organizations and more than 100 foreign universities.

The Summit has extended invitations to over 30 winners of Nobel Prize, winners of Turing Award and other world’s top scientists, nearly 360 Chinese and foreign academicians and more than 3.200 representatives of young scientists to attend the conference. Through the successful holding of the two summits, Wenzhou, China, where the summit is held, has set up a World Young Scientist Venture Fund with a total scale of 2 billion RMB (about 260 million euros), a World Young Scientist Incubator of 43.000 m2 and an Entrepreneurship Park for World Young Scientists of more than 2 million m2, and is building World Young Scientist Business City and World Young Scientist Academic Centre.
