RSTI Awarded in the National Cybersecurity Research Conference (JNIC 2018)

Cybersecurity is in the agenda of all social, industrial, and administrative agents, after the numerous incidents that are commonly reported by the media and specialized centers. This fact shows the relevance of the scope to which companies, universities, and research agents must face. The JNIC (National Cybersecurity Research Conference) reaches its fourth edition, leading its way to be the reference forum at a national level for researchers and professionals of Cybersecurity. The event will show attendees the latest scientific advances in the area made by research groups and companies, while giving an opportunity to establish alliances between different agents, and facilitating the exchange of experiences and ideas in the promotion of cybersecurity. Following the approach of previous years, the conference will focus on three fundamental areas: Research in Cybersecurity, Teaching and Training Innovation in Cybersecurity and Technology Transfer. After the success of León (2015), Granada (2016) and Madrid (2017), this fourth edition was organized by Mondragon Unibertsitatea in Donostia-San Sebastián. Once again, the Conferences was held in collaboration with INCIBE, a reference entity for the development of cybersecurity and digital trust of citizens, academic and research networks, professionals, companies , specially for strategic sectors. It is INCIBE's mission to support research to generate knowledge and technology that meets the needs and challenges posed by cyber threats and cyber attacks. There is also an opportunity for the Cybersecurity Sector to conduct this research and innovative action and materialize it in products and services that foster the digital trust of the Information Society.

The RSTI Group has participated in this conference with a presentation by researchers of this group, entitled "Cybersecurity scenarios management platform for learning and training", and written by Francisco Barea, Irene Romero, José Ignacio Rojo, Victor A. Villagrá and Julio Berrocal, which will show the design and evaluation of a platform in the cloud for training exercises in Cybersecurity for students and professionals, commonly known as CTF (Capture The Flag) competitions. This paper, presented in the congress by Víctor Villagrá, has won the prize to the best paper of teaching and training innovation of the congress.
