Research groups

Centro Láser UPM houses two leading research groups at the forefront of the development of laser technologies applied to industrial processes. These groups focus on research and knowledge transfer to the industrial sector, aiming to drive innovation and process improvement in strategic sectors such as energy, biomedicine, automotive, electronics, and more.

The research groups at the center are:

Advanced Laser Manufacturing Group (ABLM). This group specializes in the development of advanced manufacturing processes using laser technology. Their main focus is the application of pulsed lasers and advanced laser sources for micro and nanofabrication, with applications in strategic sectors such as photovoltaic energy, electronics, automotive, and biotechnology.

Laser Engineering and Applications Group (GRIAL). The Laser Engineering and Applications Group is dedicated to researching the use of high-power and high-intensity lasers for a wide range of industrial applications. Their work ranges from material treatment and property enhancement to the development of innovative applications in biomedicine, such as tissue engineering, and other industrial areas.

Both groups combine their technical and scientific expertise to provide innovative solutions that improve industrial processes and promote advancements in high-tech sectors. Additionally, their collaboration with industry and academia ensures that the Laser Center of the UPM remains a reference in the research and development of state-of-the-art laser technologies.
