International Cooperation: a real challenge for the technology

Publicado por manuelsierra en

We are used to face with local problems, but the world is more and more global every day. When the engineers or architects open their minds and face to global problems, the solutions are more sustainable. This EELISA community wants to offer all the students the opportunity to think, to design and to work with international communities, all over the world, including developing countries.

The students will have to design solutions not only considering the technical aspects but also the social ones. The concept of appropriate technology, also used in our accessibility area, now refers to the capability of design for complicated social, politic, or economic contexts. In those contexts, we must be able to perfectly understand the context and change our mind to explore those new cultures and territories.

Think that most of the people in the world live in this kind of context and most of our companies are working in global areas. There is no doubt that during your career, much probably, you will have to face with new situations that, may take place in international environments.

How can students participate in our community? Here is a tentative list of some of our activities:

– To know the offer from the different universities of the consortium. For instance, at UPM you can find more information of what we do in our web:

or you can visit our Instagram at:

– To complete your training with participation in short courses or specific learning activities related with International Cooperation for development.

– To participate in programs like Global Challenge.

– To collaborate with international NGO who collaborate with our universities.

– To do the bachelor or master thesis in these context.

Do not lose the opportunity to join us and think further together!

Technical solutions + Social context + Economic capacity = Appropriate technology
