Adriano Espinos Personal Presentation

My background as an Engineer in Industrial Design specializing in Product Development and as well as my master’s degree in advanced Materials and Innovation in Recycling, have provided me with a unique perspective that combines product design and material expertise. This comprehensive knowledge would ensure a meticulous evaluation of patent applications, efficient communication of technical details, and an acute awareness of modern innovation trends. Furthermore, my experience has also enabled me to discern the practical and commercial potential of inventions while ensuring clarity in patent documentation, aligning perfectly with the requirements of a patent examination role. During my university degree, I acquired training in all the processes involved in the making of a product: from the initial phases of investigation and generation of ideas to industrial development and its diversity of techniques. These include blueprints, crafting of the pieces, industrial processes, materials, legislations and in general, the necessary steps to take a design product to the market. I believe that possessing such in-depth expertise will help me in the job of patent examiner, as it ensures a holistic understanding of the design-to-market process, enabling accurate evaluation of packaging innovations for originality, feasibility, and adherence to industry standards.

Having become passionate about materials and the development of materials, I was subsequently awarded a scholarship by the European Institute of Technology to undertake the Advanced Materials: Innovative Recycling Masters (AMIR). This pioneer Master’s program organised by the Euopean Institute of Technology is focused on advanced materials, raw materials, and recycling. Undertaken at Lisbon NOVA School of Science and Technology and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, this international program, delivered in English, has allowed me to work with a diverse group of people across multiple countries on different projects, partnerships and collaborations with leading companies specializing both in recycling and material innovation. I was able to appreciate that the possibility of working among a supportive team of people in whom one can delegate and obtain different viewpoints is a key component of every part of a project.
