JOSÉ LUIS SAMPEDRO ADULT EDUCATION CENTER

Dates: 17/05/2022- 03/06/2022

Description: This course was aimed at older adults who, through a new digital literacy methodology, learned to use computers from scratch.

“At CEPA José Luis Sampedro we have always been very aware of the importance of DIGITAL ALPHABETIZATION because in a digital world like the one we live in, there are people who do not have these digital skills and we must give them the opportunity to acquire them. In line with this idea, this project seemed fabulous to us because it is the first step to access the use of a computer, to lose the fear of computers and, moreover, to do it at your own pace. For our students it has been ideal because they have been able to learn in a totally digital environment (use of Tablet and computer at the same time) and without stress. Personally, I found it an efficient, useful and striking first step to become digitally literate.” María Escobar, CEPA facilitator .

Description: This course was aimed at women deprived of their liberty who through a new methodology of digital literacy learned to use computers from zero.

” The course, except for one dropout, has had an impressive acceptance from the beginning and, each one at her own pace, they have all finished it on time (two in the first week and the other four in the second week). I have to admit that I was somewhat skeptical, due to the low level of competence of those selected, but I was wrong. They have worked with enthusiasm and, some of them, even with a certain fluency. But perhaps the greatest achievement is the injection of self-esteem and the joy and satisfaction with which they have finished. We can really congratulate ourselves. I hope this contact can be fruitful for everyone” José María García Sombría -Director CEPA Clara Campoamor

” [The course with TechPeopleCare] has served as an approach to new technologies, that loss of fear in making contact with new technologies, then the development of each person has had nothing to do with it, it has been different (…) The most positive thing is that they are people who have been able to have that first contact that is the most frightening, most fearful, a computer, a tablet, that turns on… and you can do things, and that it turns on and does not explode! That first step of turning on a tablet, a computer, is the most difficult (…) What the course has been is the seed, the seed that I believe that what we have to do from the Center is to water it, fertilize it, so that it can continue to grow, both individually, as a group and as a community. But you can’t grow without planting, and what this has done is planting…” Jorge Sanz López, professional at CRPS Los Cármenes.
