Manuel Gil-Martín received his Ph.D. at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain, in 2022, earning the international mention and the distinction “Cum Laude”. He has made three research stays as a visiting researcher: at Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics (University College Dublin) in 2021 and at VisionLab (Sapienza Università di Roma) in 2024 and 2025. Since September 2018, he has been an Teaching Assistant in the Department of Electronic Engineering of the UPM and also a member of the Speech Technology and Machine Learning Group, attached to the Information Processing and Telecommunications Center of the same university. Since April 2025, he works as an Associate Professor in the University. His main research interests include signal and image processing techniques, and motion modeling systems for human activity recognition, landmark-based poses and gestures recogntion, biometrics, motor anomaly detection and multimedia content perception purposes. As a result, he has authored or co-authored 26 articles in journals (9 Q1, 13 Q2 and 4 Q3) and 34 articles in conferences. Moreover, he has been the project coordinator of one research project, one industrial project and two educational innovation projects since 2023.
