🚀 PhD Position in Neural Speech Modeling & Generative Audio🎓

Are you eager to build your research career in the exciting field of AI applied to human–machine interaction?

The Speech Technology and Machine Learning Research Group at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) is offering a 4-year fully funded PhD position to push the boundaries of speech intelligence and generative sound.

🔍 What we’re looking for:

  • A university degree that qualifies for PhD studies (Bachelor + Master or equivalent, minimum 300 ECTS).
  • Knowledge in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, signal processing.
  • Programming skills in Python/C and AI libraries (PyTorch, CUDA, PyDanticAI).
  • English (C1 level or above preferred). Spanish is a plus.
  • Motivation to conduct research in an international, multidisciplinary team.

🎯 Research topics include:

  • Research and development of next-generation speech synthesis and recognition systems
  • Investigation of diffusion models, flow matching, and generative modeling for speech/audio
  • Design of neural architectures for TTS and ASR
  • Training large-scale models using modern deep learning frameworks
  • Publishing in leading conferences (Interspeech, ICASSP, NeurIPS, ICML)
  • Collaboration in national and European research projects

💼 We offer:

  • A full-time, 3-year contract.
  • Annual gross salary: €25,000 (updated annually according to official pay scales) with possible complements.
