🚀 PhD Position in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning & Speech Technologies! 🎓🤖

Are you eager to build your research career in the exciting field of AI applied to human–machine interaction?

The Speech Technology and Machine Learning Research Group at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) is offering a 4-year fully funded PhD position under the project BRAINS: Designing applications for real-world scenarios based on neural, intelligent, and sustainable approaches.

🔍 What we’re looking for:

  • A university degree that qualifies for PhD studies (Bachelor + Master or equivalent, minimum 300 ECTS).
  • Knowledge in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, signal processing.
  • Programming skills in Python/C and AI libraries (PyTorch, CUDA, PyDanticAI).
  • Experience/interest in multimodal models (speech, text, video), robotics, human–machine interaction.
  • English (C1 level or above preferred). Spanish is a plus.
  • Motivation to conduct research in an international, multidisciplinary team.

🎯 Research topics include:

  • Multimodal integration: combining speech, text, and video to understand user attention and intent.
  • Emotional analysis & personalized dialogue systems.
  • Designing safe, empathetic, and culturally adapted conversational agents.

💼 We offer:

  • A full-time, 4-year contract.
  • Annual gross salary: €22,000 (updated annually according to official pay scales) with possible complements.
