Tongji processes – Sino-Spanish Campus

Tongji application

This is the university’s official app. You can use it to enter your student card, top it up, reserve a seat on the bus, view your accommodation expenses, and more.

It’s downloaded via WeChat. The steps are described below:

1. Open the app and go to the search bar in the top right corner.

2. Enter the app name + “app” + “download (in Chinese)”, which would be: 同心云 app 下载

3. Select this option, which has a check mark. It will redirect you to a website.

4. Press and hold the QR code for a few seconds.

5. Select “Extract QR code.”

6. Select “More options” in the upper right corner.

7. Select “Open with browser” and it will take you to your preferred browser.

8. Clicking that button will download the APK file.

Registration

Upon arrival at Tongji, all students must complete registration, but this may vary from year to year. Therefore, it is recommended to follow the instructions of the international coordinator at the Tongji school where the exchange program will be held. Information about the coordinators can be found on the Tongji exchange student orientation information website:

Student visa

Obtained at the People’s Republic of China Visa Center in your country of origin, or at a People’s Republic of China Consulate.

International students living outside campus

Obtain the Tongji International Student Off-Campus Residence Form (同济大学外国留学生校外住宿登记表) from the International Student Office (ISO).

It is mandatory for students not residing in a hotel or student residence to register at a local police station with this form, a passport, and a rental agreement.

They will provide you with a Temporary Residence Registration Form.

International students living inside campus

Obtain the Temporary Residence Registration Form at the residence reception. Registration takes place upon arrival.

Shanghai Exit and Entry Administration Office

Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration Office, Jiading District: F2, Jiajian Highway Road No. 118, Jiading District, Shanghai (上海市嘉定区嘉戬公路 118 号).

Include the address of the Yangpu District Office and the central office in Pudong

Students card

The student card has many uses on campus, including: entering the campus, entering the dormitory, entering the room, entering the library, paying at the cafeteria (they only accept payment by this method), paying for shuttle buses that go to other campuses or to the nearest subway (they only accept payment by this method), using the gym, obtaining a certificate of studies at the automatic printing machine, etc.

Initial password

The default password for each student card is “888888” or the second through seventh characters of your passport number (for example, with a passport number of “AB123456,” your password would be “B12345”).

Using the Tongxinyun app

Go to “Application”
Select “校园钱包 3.0”
Select “一卡通” (there are two, one blue and one green, select the green one)
Select the one that says “充值”
Enter the amount you want to top up and press “充值” again
Choose the payment method and a pop-up will appear like this

Using Alipay

Please review these instructions for someone who has Alipay in English, in case they can access it through the “Campus Life” mini-program.

Search for “校园一卡通”
Upon entering, select “校园一卡通”
Search for or fill in “同济大学”
Fill in your personal information and select the desired amount

Courses selection

The only way to select courses is through the Tongji University System 1 portal (https://1.tongji.edu.cn/)

Medical insurance for international students

According to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, long-term international students in China must purchase “Comprehensive Insurance for International Students in China,” regardless of whether they already have medical insurance in their home country (such as OnCampus Insurance).

For both self-funded and scholarship students, the insurance is 400 RMB for 6 months (one semester) and 800 RMB per year.

If you wish to use this medical insurance, please note that if students suffer an accident and require hospital treatment, they will be responsible for all related medical expenses immediately. Outpatient expenses exceeding 650 RMB will be compensated by the insurance company by 85%, and expenses under 650 RMB will be covered by their own funds. If you wish to use this medical insurance, the International Student Office will assist you in contacting the insurance company to obtain compensation.

Wi-Fi connection

Wi-Fi is available throughout the international student residence (TJ Wi-Fi). You can connect with your credentials, student ID, and password.

Tongji email account

And click on register (what is underlined in red)

2. Enter your student ID and password to complete your email registration.
