NUMA

Development of a platform for the integration of physically-based numerical models and data-based models to dam management.

This project was conceived from the idea of putting together numerical models and data-based models. This combination can offer a set of advantages in order to increase dam safety:

  • Resulting numerical models will be more adjusted to real dam behavior and, in consequence, models will be more reliable.

  • Statistically-based models could be applied at earlier ages due to the generation of time series using numerical simulations.

  • The simultaneous analysis of both type of models will complete the knowledge about the level of safety in the dam.

  • A methodology for the calibration of model’s parameters will be developed.

  • Criteria for dynamic adjustment of emergency thresholds will be posed. This will permit an automated, up-to-date analysis of dam safety.
