Miguel Egido is a professor at the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid (UPM). He is a specialist in photovoltaic solar energy, simulation, sizing, measurements, normalization and rural electrification. He combines his teaching activity with his participation in energy research and development projects in cooperation with third parties, both in Spain and in Latin American and African countries. He is the author of a significant number of publications in his area of ​​specialization and he has supervised five doctoral theses. In 2011, his research activity was recognized with the first prize  in the International Cooperation Award in Research for Development.
