Goals

We aim to add to post-COVID-19 urbanism and from various urban planning traditions in which the focus for the planner is people's time, the strengthening of the local and the reduction of the impacts of urban processes.

We understand proximity as a principle for integrating urban and mobility planning; and we work to include it in the current plans of local authorities, in particular the General Urban Plan (PGOU), the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) and the Spanish Urban Agenda (AUE).

We propose proximity as personal (diverse) and binary (yes/no) as opposed to accessibility, an objective and continuous variable. In turn, we consider it essential to find measures of both based on open, public and universal data, which are informative and accessible to municipal technicians and citizens.

Create a repository where research and dissemination on proximity carried out by members of the DUyOT research area Territorial accessibility, proximity cities and sustainable mobility, as well as associated researchers, can be found through social networks, informative and scientific articles, forums, presentations, etc.
