Facilities

Facilities

The facilities of our laboratory are equipped with the necessary devices to perform and characterize different combustion and fluid dynamics experiments, using gases such as hydrogen, methane, or carbon monoxide.

Mass flow controllers

The gas-control installation allows for the regulation and preparation of mixtures with up to six different components. The relative concentration of each species is established through a mass flow controller for each independent gas line.

PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry)

The flow velocity measurements using PIV techniques are performed using two systems: Our pulsed Nd-YAG laser, which provides measurements up to 15 Hz, and a continuous infrared laser, which enables measurements of higher temporal resolution.

PLIF (Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence)

The ultraviolet range emission laser allows exciting radicals within the flame, specifically the OH radicals. Other radicals can also be detected by modifying the emission frequency.

High-speed cameras

Several phenomena of interest occur on characteristic timescales that are short enough to go unnoticed to the naked eye. To overcome this, we have two cameras with recording speeds of up to one million frames per second.

Spraytec

We have a laser diffraction particle size analyzer for the characterization of droplet sizes in fuel sprays or any other aerosol.

Workshop

Our workshop is equipped for the rapid fabrication of proof-of-concept or initial prototypes. Additionally, it serves for the preparation of all necessary tools for the realization of experiments.
