Welcome to my personal website!
My name is Javier López de la Cruz. I hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics at the Universidad de Sevilla (Sevilla, Spain), where I also completed my undergraduate and master studies in Mathematics.
I am currently working as Associate Professor (Profesor Contratado Doctor) at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Madrid, Spain) in the Departamento de Matemática Aplicada a las Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones, at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Informáticos, where I also serve as Vice Dean for Undergraduate Studies.
I am deeply passionate about differential equations, since they allow us to explain the evolution of real-world phenomena and to better understand the world around us. Indeed, my research interests focus on the study of differential equations (both autonomous and non-autonomous, as well as random and stochastic) applied to problems arising in life sciences, mainly Biology, Ecology, and Epidemiology.
Even though I love research, teaching is my true passion. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a professor. I find great joy in teaching others what I learn and adding my personal touch to the experience, leaving a small part of myself with every student who passes through my classes.
Last but not least, a short personal note concerning my hobbies! I like walking in the mountains and by the beach, traveling both within Spain and abroad, cooking delicious dishes from both national and international cuisines, spending great moments with family and friends, and… yes, I love playing the drums!
