Posted on 9 de February de 202315 de February de 2023

Although they had to postpone the trip several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, finally, in October 2022, Shawn Abrahams – postdoctoral researcher at Yale University (Columbia, USA) – and Makenzie Mabry – postdoctoral researcher at Florida Museum of Natural History (USA) – came to visit the EMMA herbarium.

Makenzie Mabry (Florida Museum of Natural History, USA) and Shawn Abrahams (Yale University, USA) at EMMA herbarium.

They were specifically interested in observing the EMMA specimens of some genera of Brassicaceae, because they are studying the foliar architecture of ancient wild specimens of this family. In the EMMA herbarium there are several specimens of the genera that they asked for: Vella, Brassica, Crambe, Diplotaxis, Erucastrum y Moricandia. Among them, one is quite special: a type specimen of Crambe strigosa var. gigantea Ceballos & Ortuño.

Shawn and Makenzie were the second visitors to sign in our guestbook
