Iván Martín-Fernández is a Ph.D. student under the supervision of Fernando Fernández-Martínez at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain. He received his master’s degree from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in Signal Theory and Machine Learning for Big Data in 2023. He developed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s theses with the Speech Technology and Machine Learning Group (THAU), applying advanced computer vision and NLP techniques for narrative genre prediction in short films and memorability characterization of short home videos, thus laying the foundation for his current PhD studies. These works led to his first published paper, which he presented in September 2023 in Orléans, France.

Iván is currently focused on modeling aspects of human perception through multimedia deep learning models. In particular, he is now researching advanced multimodal models to predict the memorability of an audiovisual input, which is the likelihood of this input being remembered over time.
