The members of GSC Hydro are part of the UPM Research Group “Hydroinformatics and Water Management.” GSC Hydro (Generation Scheduling and Control of Hydropower Plants) is a research team composed of professors from various UPM schools, with expertise in developing stochastic optimization models for electricity generation scheduling, and dynamic simulation models for analyzing power system frequency stability and the contribution of different generation and storage technologies to frequency control.
GSC Hydro has extensive experience in modeling the operation of hydropower and pumped-storage plants with particular configurations and/or operating modes (variable speed, hydraulic short-circuit, long and high-inertia pressurized conduits, etc.).
