Prof. Hector Gómez, from Purdue University, gives a Distinguished Speaker Lecture at Caminos UPM

Héctor Gómez studied Civil Engineering (Ingeniería de Caminos, Canales y Puertos) at the University of A Coruña. He is currently a Full Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering, the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, and the Cancer Research Institute, as well as a Faculty University Scholar at Purdue University.
Gómez specializes in computational mechanics with an emphasis on simulation at the interface between engineering and medicine, isogeometric modeling and analysis, and multiphysics systems. His research has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Juan C. Simó Prize from the Spanish Society of Computational Mechanics, the MIT Innovators Under 35 recognition, the Young Investigator Award from the Royal Academy of Engineering of Spain, the Gallagher Young Investigator Award from the U.S. Association for Computational Mechanics, and the Princess of Girona Scientific Research Award. He has also received the Purdue University Acorn Award and the Fellow Award from the U.S. Association for Computational Mechanics.
Prof. Gómez has published over 100 papers in scientific journals and contributed more than 200 presentations to conferences.
