TejeMath is a STEAM project that combines mathematics and crochet with the main goal of introducing any student to the world of Mathematics and design using crochet as a means of communication.
The project is structured in five phases:
- 1º- Participant registration.
- 2º- Training stage: Once the participants are known, five workshops will be conducted: some related to learning crochet techniques and others of a mathematical nature, where elements that can be represented in subsequent creations will be introduced.
- 3º- Creative stage: In this phase, participants will engage in the creation of an artistic proposal on a scientific topic addressed during the training stage. During this phase, they will be guided, directed, and advised by the workshop instructors.
After the competition, all the teams that have made a proposal participate in our Art & Science competition. - 4º- Exhibition: All created proposals will be showcased as one of the exhibitions in the π-ensa Mathematics Workshop Museum at the School of Civil Engineering, Channels, and Ports of the UPM at the School of Architecture and will be displayed in various educational spaces. Additionally, they will be hosted on the website as a virtual exhibition.
- 5º- Audiovisual: An educational explanatory video will be created to showcase the creations and explain the mathematics behind each one. This proposal will help disseminate the project and serve as inspiration for others..
