From URBAN to EDIL (I).
The European Union as an actor in Urban Regeneration. An insight from the Academia
At a time when urban regeneration is emerging as an essential policy to address the main challenges we face as a society, and coinciding with the launch of the EDIL (Estrategias de Desarrollo Integrado, or Integrated Local Development Strategies) in the Spanish framework, it is important to highlight the experience of regeneration developed in our framework under the urban axis of the EU Cohesion Policy. This seminar will reflect on the instruments implemented, as well as on the future potential of the EU as an actor in the context of urban regeneration in order to achieve the objectives of the Green Deal.
The seminar programme draws on the experience of researchers who, through their academic work in different disciplines, have explored this topic in depth. It will be followed by two other seminars where the experience of local authorities, regional governments and central government will be presented.
This event is part of the work of the Jean Monnet RegenEU Chair and its commitment to raise the profile of this issue and generate a fruitful debate beyond the academic sphere.
