About me

I am a professor emeritus at DIT/UPM. I am a member of the research group on Real-Time Systems and Telematic Services Engineering (STRAST), which is is integrated into the Information Processing and Telecommunications Center (IPTC) of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM).

I received a Engineering degree from UPM in 1972, and a PhD in Engineering from the same University in 1976.  I have held teaching and research positions at the Technical Universities of Madrid (UPM) and Valencia (UPV). I was a full professor at UPM from 1988 to 2020.

For more than thirty years I have been doing research on software engineering, programming languages, and implementation platforms for real-time and cyber-physical systems.

I have been active in IFAC, the International Federation of Automatic Control for a long time. From 2007 to 2022 I was Editor-in-Chief of IFAC-PapersOnLine.  I am currently an IFAC Advisor.

I am also a member of CEA, the Spanish NMO for IFAC, as well as IEEE, the IEEE Computer Society, and Ada-Spain.

Previous career

I received a degree in Electrical Engineering from ETSII-UPM in 1972. I did a internship at CERT-ONERA, and got a degree in Automatic Control from Université Paul Sabatier in 1973. In 1976 I completed my PhD in Engineering at UPM. 

I work as a research assistant and lecturer at UPM until 1978. Then I moved to the Technical University of Valencia (UPV), where I held positions as Associate Professor and Full Professor. From 1986 to 1988 I was Dean of the School of Informatics (ETSINF-UPV).

In 1988 I moved back to UPM. I was first with DATSI/UPM, and since 1990 with DIT/UPM.
