Summary 
- I am Associate Professor in the Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas Telemáticos (DIT) at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). I am Senior Researcher in the STRAST Research Group, part of the UPM Information Processing and Telecommunications Center.
- From 2024, I am also Deputy-Director at the UPM Information Processing and Telecommunications Center.
- I got my PhD from Universidad Polítécnica de Madrid in 2009.

This project will enhance the safety and resilience of critical infrastructures by creating a multi-level resilience ecosystem.
- Spanish National Funds – Re-InITS (Principal Investigator) [2025-2028]: Reliable Industrial Information Technology Systems in the Computing Continuum Era. This project aims to develop enabling technologies for industrial applications in the computing continuum.
- Horizon Europe CEDAR (Principal Investigator) [2023-2026]: Common European Data Spaces and Robust AI for Transparent Public Governance. This project will address the use of data spaces to improve transparency and accountability in public administrations across Europe.
- Horizon Europe Edu4Standard.EU (Principal Investigator) [2023-2026]: Education for Standardization in the EU. This project aims to facilitate education related to standardization processes in higher education institutions across Europe, with the goal of strengthening the EU’s position in this field.
- Horizon Europe SUNRISE (Principal Investigator) [2022-2025]: Strategies and Technologies for United and Resilient Critical Infrastructures and Vital Services in Pandemic-Stricken Europe. This project aims to enhance the resilience of critical infrastructures and essential services during pandemic episodes, such as the one recently experienced due to COVID.
- Spanish National Funds – autoGDPR (Principal Investigator) [2022-2024]: GDPR Automated Assessment. This project focuses on the development of techniques and tools for the automated assessment of the compliance of telematic systems with various requirements of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Spanish National Funds – IIP (Principal Investigator) [2020-2022]: Privacy Engineering Research. This project addresses research on privacy engineering and data protection, including a set of solutions to help organizations systematically and efficiently incorporate privacy and personal data protection considerations into their engineering processes.
- Madrid Region Funds – CLIIP (Principal Investigator) [2020-2021]: Research Leadership in Privacy Engineering . This project was funded by the Community of Madrid to support research into methods, techniques, and tools that help software engineers address privacy and data protection issues and incorporate appropriate solutions into the development processes of new telematic systems and services.
- AEPD – PrivApp (Principal Investigator) [2018-2019]: Privacy and data protection assessment in mobile apps. This project was funded by the Spanish Data Protection Agency to investigate the collection and use of personal data by various mobile applications.
- Spanish National Funds – APPRENTICE (Principal Investigator) [2017-2019]: European Training Network on Privacy Engineering. This project seeks to establish an international consortium aimed at creating a network of public and private organizations that conduct research and innovation in the field of Privacy Engineering.
- H2020 – TRUESSEC.eu (Principal Investigator) [2017-2018]: Trust-enhancing certified solutions for security and protection of citizens rights in digital Europe. This project seeks to coordinate trustworthiness certification and labeling efforts in the digital realm.
