Last July 2022, several people from the Sudan University of Science and Technology (Khartoum, Sudan) visited the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid thanks to the Erasmus+ mobility program for staff in non-European associated countries (Erasmus+ KA-107). Two of them requested to visit the EMMA herbarium: Galal Fashir and Amani Kobbail.
On July 20th and 21st, we welcomed Galal Fashir and Amani Kobbail from the College of Forestry and Range Science. The second day, Khawla Mohamed from the College of Veterinary Medicine accompanied them.
They explained to us that they are concerned about the disappearance of taxa and habitats. That is why they want to create a herbarium in their center, with the aim of facilitating taxonomic research on the flora of the diversified territory of their country. They also had other scientific-academic interests and we hope that, in the near future, they will achieve the international collaborations they were looking for.
