DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION FOR RURAL ELECTRIFICATION: FIELD VISIT WITH ACCIONA.ORG PERU

Proyecto Semilla de Cooperación UPM

In August 2025, two members of our team had the opportunity to travel to Peru with funding from the UPM Proyecto Semilla de Cooperación, to collaborate with the Acciona.org Foundation Peru in their rural electrification projects in the Cajamarca region. This initiative is part of our joint efforts to promote digital transformation as a key tool to improve the management and sustainability of projects in rural and remote areas.

During the visit, we worked closely with the Acciona.org Peru team on the organization and systematization of project data, with the aim of facilitating both strategic and operational decision-making. We also designed and implemented data management and visualization tools, enabling local teams to monitor the performance of rural electrification systems more effectively.

Another highlight of the visit was the training in the use of ICTs provided to local staff, aimed at strengthening their capacities for the day-to-day management of projects. In this way, the initiative fosters not only the incorporation of advanced technological solutions but also the empowerment of the teams working on the ground.

This experience reinforces the importance of linking technological innovation, capacity building, and local development to ensure the sustainability of energy access projects in vulnerable communities. We are convinced that the knowledge shared and the tools developed in Cajamarca will have a lasting impact, helping to improve the quality of life of the families served and advancing progress toward universal, fair, and sustainable access to energy.
