As part of the European Maritime Day celebrations, the town of Conil de la Frontera (Cádiz) hosted a dedicated event focused on the growth of the blue economy in the province of Cádiz. Organized with the support of the Provincial Council of Cádiz, the event brought together researchers, policymakers, and industry representatives to discuss innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation across marine-related sectors.
The Anemona project was highlighted during the event through a presentation by Pedro Luis Cebrián, who introduced the project’s main objectives and discussed the application of artificial intelligence and animal behavior analysis in aquaculture systems. His talk showcased how emerging technologies can support improved animal welfare and production efficiency in marine farming environments.

In addition, Miguel Chavarrías participated in a roundtable discussion titled “Challenges of Digitalization in the Marine Product Value Chain (Extraction/Cultivation, Processing, and Commercialization) Towards a Zero-Waste Approach.” The session addressed the integration of digital tools across the entire value chain, promoting a circular and sustainable approach to marine resource management.

This event reaffirmed the key role of collaborative research and innovation in advancing a resilient, digital, and sustainable blue economy, while also highlighting the contribution of initiatives like Anemona to this evolving landscape.
