Abstract

The aim of this study is to obtain the elastic constants of Eucalyptus globulus Labill required for any numerical model. Two methods were used for this: the propagation of ultrasound waves and mechanical compression tests. The same test specimens were used in both procedures and no significant differences were found. The elastic parameters obtained in the research reveal the high properties of this specie in comparison to other hardwoods.
