The Network integrates most of the active research groups in Spain working on improving N management in agriculture and reducing negative environmental impacts associated with N use, particularly those groups working on gaseous N emissions and with techniques to improve crop nitrogen use efficiency (NUE).  These groups are national leaders and are contact points for international collaboration.

This network will enable exchange of information, and development of synergistic research activities that will appreciably enhance the research of the participating groups, assisting members to use novel and relevant approaches. Collaboration will be enhanced by the multidisciplinarity and complementarity of the participants. A body of national experts will be established to participate in international forums where relevant issues important to Spain will be debated, regarding N emissions and NUE in food production. These discussions will impact Spanish agriculture and environment in the coming years.
