DESCRIPTION
This course is an introduction to traditional machining processes that use ComputerAided Manufacturing (CAM) systems. Provides an overview of using software to control machine tools and focuses on creating a machine plan, process document, and machine operation/simulation. Additionally, an overview of machining materials for a variety of end products and applications is provided, delving into their desirable properties for an optimal machining process. Additionally, the student will be instructed on tool material selection, taking into account the need for hardness, toughness, and chemical stability.
