OFFER DESCRIPTION:

• Predoctoral research contract for the project: “Heat stress management in broiler chickens with nutritional and artificial intelligence tools”
• A contract to pursue PhD title in the framework of the project “Heat stress management in broiler chickens with nutritional and artificial intelligence tools” is offered. The Project PID2023-149145OB-I00, funded by the Spanish Research Agency will be hosted by the Department of Agricultural Production at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The thesis project main objective is to evaluate new strategies for broiler chicken feeding and management to minimize the negative effects of heat stress on broiler production and meat quality. The focus will be on the nutritional and physiological properties of different lipid sources and the antioxidant, immunomodulatory, and digestion-stimulating characteristics of phytogenic additives.
• Your duties and responsibilities include:
  • Together with other project members design and carry out the in vivo nutritional trials with chickens.
  • Laboratory analysis of samples.
  • Data analysis and interpretation.
  • Give scientific presentations internally and at scientific meetings.
  • Writing scientific publications leading to a dissertation.

REQUIREMENTS:

• We seek highly motivated candidates with a MSc degree in areas related to Animal Science or Veterinary Medicine.
• Be enrolled full-time or admitted to a doctorate program at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid for the 2024-2025 academic year at the time of submitting the application. Those people who, at the time of submitting the application, are not enrolled or admitted to a doctoral program, but who are available to do so on the date of formalization of the contract, can also apply for this aid.
• Not being in possession of a doctorate.
• Not having enjoyed any other aid of a similar nature lasting more than 12 months when the deadline for submitting applications ends.
• The candidate must have experience in studies related to animal production. Any knowledge of molecular biology or bioinformatics will be valued positively.
• Excellent spoken and written command of English (as you will write an Englishlanguage
• dissertation and present at international conferences).
• Excellent spoken and written command of Spanish is desirable.
