Constructions clean, efficient and friendly with the environment.

CLEAM is an emblematic research project in the sector of Spanish construction, focused on the area of linear transport infrastructure (roads and railways), which bases its actions on two ethical principles defined by Hans Jonas:

Work so that the effects of your action are compatible with the permanence of genuine human life on earth.

We must go forward, but with the necessary prudence that comes from being aware of the irreversibility of certain decisions.

The project started as an initiative of the SPANISH TECHNOLOGICAL PLATFORM OF CONSTRUCTION (PTEC), particularly of the SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION LINE (LECS), which, led by OHL and Ferrovial, has more than 50 members, including companies, universities departments, research centers and technology centers. It also has the support of SEOPAN (Association of Construction Companies on National Level), these associations with the Committees on Technology and I+D in September 2006 in a joint meeting promoted its realization.

Since 2007, and over four years, they have undertaken research lines of different nature that have as a common goal to achieve more sustainable roads and railways, considering their entire life cycle (design, construction, maintenance and operation).

Project sponsored by CDTI through the CENIT program (National Strategic Consortia for Technical Research).

Work packages involved in the project:

1. Waste. Separation and management.
2. Waste. Reuse of the recycled materials and remediation.
3. Impact on “Flora and Fauna”
4. Emissions
5. New materials
6. Increase of existing facilities
7. Safety systems against emergencies

GISci’s participation has been essential in the research lines: waste separation and management; Reuse, recycling and remediation, generating new knowledge that allows properly treat of the waste, from the standpoint of proper management and from the technical knowledge for effective and selective separation also for reuse and recycling.

Participantes: Parra y Alfaro, José LuisDe Guzmán Báez, Ana; Cervantes Villamuelas, Miguel; Martín Pérez, Sandra; Maceda, Alonso, Mónica.
