Francisco Ayuga

Doctor Ingeniero Agrónomo y Catedrático de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), especializado en Edificación e Infraestructuras Rurales. Profesor de universidad desde 1983 y catedrático desde 2002.

Coordinador de Máster Universitario en Ingeniería de Sistemas Agrarios hasta 2021 y desde entonces del Máster Universitario en Ingeniería Agronómica y del Doctorado en Agroingeniería de la UPM. Director de la cátedra Universidad-Empresa Rafael DalRé/TRAGSA de la UPM desde 2016 hasta 2021. Responsable del grupo de investigación “Edificación, Infraestructuras y Proyectos de Ingeniería Rural y Medioambiental” (EIPIRMA– BIPREE) de la UPM.

Anterior presidente de la Sociedad Española de Agroingeniería, y Vicepresidente del Comité de Edificación del Instituto de la Ingeniería de España.

Especializado en edificación e infraestructuras rurales, impartiendo materias relacionadas con las estructuras y el diseño de edificios para la producción agrícola y ganadera, cimentaciones, caminos rurales, pequeños embalses, silos y depósitos y otros. Los principales temas de investigación son silos agrícolas y, aplicación de métodos numéricos en ingeniería rural. Ha publicado 94 artículos en revistas científicas (60 en revistas del ISI-WoS), 16 libros o capítulos de libros (2 en inglés), y 259 comunicaciones en Congresos (en inglés y español). Ha dirigido 17 proyectos de investigación, colaborado en otros 12, además de participar o dirigir 30 proyectos de innovación tecnológica para empresas, 4 proyectos de cooperación para el desarrollo y 12 proyectos de innovación educativa. Ha dirigido 20 tesis doctorales y formado parte en 34 tribunales de tesis doctoral. Ha participado en 84 cursos de postgrado. Ha sido organizador o participante en comités científicos en 17 congresos. En la actualidad es miembro del comité editorial de 5 revistas científicas (4 en ISI-WoS) y ha sido evaluador de artículos de investigación para 62 revistas científicas (52 en el ISI-WoS). También fue Presidente del “Special Interest Group Rural Buildings and Landscape” de la Society for Agricultural Engineering in Europe (EurAgEng) desde 1998 a 2010, Vicepresidente de la Sociedad Española de Agroingeniería de 2003 a 2007, y nuevamente desde 2015 hasta 2017 y Presidente desde 2017 a 2019, Presidente de la Comisión Española de Ingeniería Rural (CEIR) desde 2009 a 2014, Vicepresidente del Comité de Edificación del Instituto de Ingeniería de España desde 2009 hasta la actualidad y representante español en las redes temáticas internacionales USAEE, ERABEE (con más de 30 países europeos participantes en cada una de ellas) y POMSEBES y TABE.NET(de cooperación entre Europa y los Estados Unidos de América), todas ellas relacionadas con la internacionalización de la enseñanza y la investigación en el ámbito de la Ingeniería Agrícola y de los Biosistemas y formadas por numerosos países europeos.

Evaluador de proyectos de investigación para organismos nacionales (ANEP, ACSUG ) y de otros países (Bélgica, Italia, Suiza, Polonia, Chequia, Chile y Uruguay). Miembro del comité director de 4 redes internacionales de Ingeniería (USAEE, ERABEE, POMSEBES y TABE.NET). Evaluador de títulos universitarios para la agencia de calidad de las Comunidades Autónomas de Madrid y Galicia.

PhD in Agricultural Engineering and Professor at the  Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), specialising in Building and Rural Infrastructures. He has been a University Associate Professor since 1983 and a Professor since 2002.

Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Biosystems Engineering and the Doctorate in Agroengineering at the UPM. Director of the Rafael DalRé/TRAGSA University-Company Chair at the UPM. Responsible for the research group “Buildings, Infrastructures and Projects for Rural and Environmental Engineering ” (EIPIRMA- BIPREE) of the UPM.

Former president of the Spanish Society of Agroengineering, and Vice-president of the Building Committee of the Spanish Institute of Engineering.

Specialized in rural buildings and infrastructures, teaching subjects related to structures and design of buildings for agricultural and livestock production, foundations, rural roads, small dams, silos and tanks and others. The main research topics are agricultural silos and, the application of numerical methods in rural engineering. He has published 94 articles in scientific journals (60 in ISI-WoS journals), 16 books or book chapters (2 in English), and 259 communications in conferences (in English and Spanish). He has directed 17 research projects, collaborated with 12 others, as well as participated in or directing 30 technological innovation projects for companies, 4 development cooperation projects and 12 educational innovation projects. He has supervised 20 doctoral theses and has been a member of 34 doctoral thesis tribunals. He has participated in 84 postgraduate courses. He has been an organiser or participant in scientific committees in 17 congresses. He is currently a member of the editorial board of 5 scientific journals (4 in ISI-WoS) and has been a reviewer of research articles for 62 scientific journals (52 in ISI-WoS). He was also President of the “Special Interest Group Rural Buildings and Landscape” of the Society for Agricultural Engineering in Europe (EurAgEng) from 1998 to 2010, Vice-President of the Spanish Society of Agroengineering from 2003 to 2007, and again from 2015 to 2017 and President from 2017 to 2019, President of the Spanish Commission of Rural Engineering (CEIR) from 2009 to 2014, Vice President of the Building Committee of the Spanish Engineering Institute from 2009 to the present and Spanish representative in the international thematic networks USAEE, ERABEE (with more than 30 European countries participating in each of them) and POMSEBES and TABE. NET (cooperation between Europe and the United States of America), all related to the internationalization of teaching and research in the field of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and formed by many European countries.

Evaluator of research projects for national bodies (ANEP, ACSUG ) and other countries (Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic, Chile and Uruguay). Member of the steering committee of 4 international engineering networks (USAEE, ERABEE, POMSEBES and TABE.NET). Evaluator of university degrees for the quality agency of the Autonomous Communities of Madrid and Galicia.
